MY UNCLE WILL BARNET, 98 AT THE TIME, WITH HIS SON PETER AND I TOURED THE MET SHOW TOGETHER. WHEN WE CAME TO THIS WALL HE SAID, “THAT’S A VERY EXPENSIVE PIECE OF REAL ESTATE.” AND SMILED BROADLY AT ME. THE MUSEUM OWNS AT LEAST 30 OF HIS PAINTINGS BUT I DON’T THINK ANY HAVE HUNG ON THE WALLS YET. I AM A VERY GRATEFUL LUCKY DUCKY!

When I chose this subject I was living and working in intellectual Boston and I was filled with contempt at the thought of such primitive, brutality and such a stupid name for a street. My karmic atonement was to end up living only blocks away at 568 President St. I loved it there, the only time I’ve ever lived alone.
