A two minute walk from town. Child-friendly, spacious loft-like space doubles as an art gallery. There is a Baldwin parlor grand piano now and the foosball table is gone. The location is convenient and private w/ parking space. Smoking permitted on porch. This venue is a casual setting for your relaxation and creativity. The vast majority of people are totally satisfied with our laid back style. Picky neat freaks not so much. Those with extremely severe allergies be warned; cats live nearby.
The Mothership is unique among B&Bs because it is also an art gallery. As a guest you may share the space with an art show. Creativity is the key to happiness and well-being. Tibetan Buddhists regard it as equivalent to spirituality and it's what Woodstock is all about. The oldest continually running art colony in the country, Woodstock was an important epicenter of the 60s peace, love and rock'n'roll utopian vision. In the 80s Woodstock was once again of seminal importance in the rise of the New Age movement; Native American, Buddhist, Hindu, Eastern Orthodox and Wiccan. It is also home to significant parts of the Rainbow Family, a legacy organization of the Hippie persuasion. The Mothership is also stocked with art supplies for guests. Paul has a long history of mounting shows and his own work was shown in 2009 at the Metropolitan Museum in the Pictures Generation 1974-1984. His work is in the collections of the Met and Whitney museums. His most recent show, of altered pizza boxes, opened in February 2020 at the 321 Gallery in Brooklyn. He is also a musician and there is a Baldwin 'parlor grand' piano for the playing pleasure of guests.
There is wifi, full kitchen and bath with tub, a/c and heat, exclusive use of the grand front porch, ample parking. Walking distance to town, soccer fields, town forest, galleries, shops, hiking trails, lots of restaurants and music clubs. You can park your car here and spend the entire time on foot.
It is possible to use the Mothership as a production or rehearsal facility. In its recent history as an "Everything Center" the room has hosted many fine musical shows and has an excellent sound for remote recording. The whole band could live and record in the same space. A film crew recently stayed here while doing location shots around town and in the space. Paul also encourages curators to organize art shows here.
